Historically, Bilbao has always been a conference city, hosting events for the most diverse groups.
Since 1999, the Euskalduna Palace, Convention Centre and Music Hall , has been the main facility for the city's conferences. In 2003, it received the prestigious Apex Award, granted by the International Association of Congress Centres, as the "Best World Congress Centre", and it is the first public convention centre to be awarded Q Tourist Quality (2004) by the Institute for Spanish Tourist Quality (ICTE). |
| |
These awards strengthen Euskalduna's prestige and are proof of its commitment to customer satisfaction by providing high-quality service. |
| |
The Q Tourist Quality is also an acknowledgement of the Palace's efforts to implement Quality Management, Event Development, Food Service, Hygiene, Cleaning and Maintenance Systems. |

Opened in April 2004, Bilbao Exhibition Centre (BEC) has been designed to host all sorts of events: fairs, conventions, exhibitions, concerts, sports and cultural activities. Its six pavilions, making 150,000 m 2 , have highly adaptive structures, adjusting to the needs of each event.
BEC also has a 4,700 m 2 convention centre that can be adapted to different kinds of activities.
BEC's facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art communications systems, including fibre optic or simultaneous translation. One of its most interesting characteristics, however, is how easy it is to get there, since it is in Barakaldo, 5 minutes away from downtown Bilbao by underground or motorway. |
